Chris Burnham
located in Chicago, IL
natured & nurtured by Robert & Gretchen Burnham
When I'm freshly shaven, I get carded every time. When I've got a beard, I get offered the senior citizen discount. Who needs Ponce de Leon when you've got Ferdinand du Gillette?
In other news, I draw pictures for a living, I can say the alphabet backwards faster than you can say it forwards, and I have never worked in food service. I think the rest is self-explanatory.

Comiculture is the critically acclaimed brainchild of industry vet Spectromatic Steve Buccellato. He was kind enough to bring me along for the ride, and I turned in one of my favorite stories ever, a pirate tale I both wrote and illustrated entitled "Suffer the Salt." But don't just take my word for it - check out some of the critical praise that still has me blushing!
"Burnham’s art is wonderfully moody, and his writing is clear and moves quickly. I want to find more comics by him."
Jason Sacks, Silver Bullet Comic Books

Marvel Mystery Comics 70th Anniversary Special #1
If I do say so myself, this comic has a greater percentage of punching, flying, flame-throwing, and all-out destructive action than anything else I've ever drawn, and probably anything else on the shelves today. And it was written by one of my favorite writers, Tom DeFalco with colors by one of my favorite people, Nathan Fairbairn! It's awesome - get down to your local comic book store and buy it today!
Don't want to take my word for it? Watch a Marvel Hotline video featuring loads of artwork and Tom DeFalco's mispronunciation of my name (it's pronounced "Burn 'Em," Tom!), read an article by DeFalco putting the book in its proper historical context, check out a 6-page preview, and read the reviews below! THEN buy it!

Elephantmen #16
Richard Starkings kicked my career into gear when he brought me on for the fan-favorite Elephantmen #9, so I was doubly psyched to come back to do a full-length story featuring my favorite Elephantmen character, The Silencer.
It's a good one, kids, but don't take MY word for it, take these guys' word for it!

Full disclosure - this guy didn't like it, but I'm pretty sure he didn't get it, either. Granted, if he didn't understand the ending, it's probably the fault of me and Rich, but I don't think he gave us a fair shake. What's REALLY weird is that he gave me a free pass because he thinks I'm funny when I go on Around Comics. Who knew that being an internet snark would pay off so quickly?

You MUST own this T-Shirt
Flirting with a member of the opposite sex (either one!) will never be easier than when you're wearing a shirt that that features a surly boob with an eye patch.
Seriously. Almost 100% of the time the conversation starts with "Nice Rack" and goes straight into the gutter from there. Head on over to Cafepress, pick one out, and get yourself some action!

Fear Agent #21
Mark your calendars! June 4th will live in Burnhamesque infamy, because that's when A Mammoth Undertaker, an 8-page story that I both wrote and drew, is slated to appear in the pages of Fear Agent 21 from Dark Horse Comics! If I'm not tooting my horn too loudly, it may just be the greatest Fear Agent story ever written, and it ain't drawn too shabbily, neither! Wanna see?

I made the cover of the Tempo section in The Chicago Tribune! Why did I split the link up into three parts, you ask? 'Cuz the article's split up into three parts!
Now that I've conquered the Chicago media, the only place left to go is national! Cross your fingers extra tight that Entertainment Weekly will review Nixon's Pals!

Time Out Chicago
The March 27-April 2 edition of Time Out Chicago has a great one-page feature on me and Nixons Pals that really captures the Burnham Experience. I come off pretty well and it gave me a chance to get one of my personal mottoes into print! Which one? Read it and find out!

Nixon's Pals
The wait is over! You can now get your hands on Nixon's Pals, the graphic novel that I am calling "the reason that vision was invented," has my nephew gibbering "buppp gaa'ahh snert! Heehee" (translation: SHIT! I wish I could read so I could devour every last page of this masterpiece!) and has my mom saying "Christopher, I thought we raised you better than this!"
Nixon's Pals is about a parole officer for supervillains and is the greatest work to date from both me and my esteemed colleague, Joe Casey. And considering that this is a guy who has written Superman, X-Men, WildC.A.T.S. 3.0, and G0DLAND, that's saying a whole hell of a lot!
If you like your triumph mixed with tragedy, your street-level intrigue mixed with super-powered violence, and your breasts mixed with eyepatches and Roy-Tan cigars, then Nixon's Pals is your new reason for living! It's 120 pages of non-stop brilliance for just $12.99. Call up your local comic book shop and order Nixon's Pals today!

24-Hour Comicbook
In October of 2007, I was present for the world's first 24-Hour Comic Podcast. The Crankcast joined forces with AroundComics to talk about comics, movies, porn, and whatever else came to mind. I sat in a corner and created a 24-Hour-Comic Book... that's Scott McCloud's challenge to write, pencil, ink and letter a 24-page comic in 24 hours! Check mine out HERE! Beware, there's bad words and naughty bits.
